Download 1password 6 mac

1Pwd tells me that an update is available. I bring it up the update page and click on 'Update now'. I can see it's downloading and then starting the installation but it never completes. I tried many times but 1Pwd remains on the old version. I managed to capture the last thing I see of the update process before it stops (see attached update.png). BTW, when it stops, 1Pwd is no longer running and I have to restart it manually.

1Password Version: 6.1.272
Extension Version: 4.6.1
OS Version: Windows 7 Enterprise
Sync Type: Family

Hi @micaelanovas. Thanks for writing in. These are legit files and sites. What you're seeing are two separate things we sell; our cloud-based subscription service on 1Password.com with the compatible apps for it and the standalone with local vaults programs on AgileBits.com with 1Password 4 for Windows that doesn't support 1Password.com service.

  • Hi @m_w,

Thanks for writing in. That can happen if the installation fails due to an external cause, like an outdated .NET framework.

First, can you install the latest .NET framework here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53344

Reboot your computer and try updating 1Password again.

Please let me know how it turns out, thanks!

  • I downloaded .NET from your link but when I try and open the exe file I get an error (see attached extract-error.png).

  • Hi @m_w,

That looks like a permission issue. Are you trying to install it as an admin rather than installing it as a standard user? It would prompt you for authorization during the setup if it needs to.

  • I've tried both - running the installer normal and as admin - same results; would 4.6.2 actually make a difference?

    Houdahspot 3.8.5 download

  • Yes, it would, @m_w.

We're using the latest technologies Microsoft has to offer and require the latest version of the .NET framework. Usually this should be installed through Windows Update but sometimes Windows needs a swift kick in the butt

We're really sorry for the inconvenience.

Ok - I have now managed to get .NET 4.6.2 installed but still I'm seeing the same issue when I try to install 1Password. Is there a standalone installer available that I can download? I had to run the .Net installer using a 'run elevated' option and I suspect I may have to do the same for the 1Pwd installation.

  • Hi @m_w,

We do not recommend running or even installing 1Password as an admin, it will result into a problematic state where 1Password may not work consistently and we won't be able to support this. You can find the 6.1.296 installer here.

You may need to look at your system first because that is likely the source of the problem that will spread to other apps on your system. We'd recommend running the sfc /scannow command to verify your system's integrity.

  • Ok - I have run the scan (had to start cmd.exe using 'run elevated') and here's its output:

    C:WINDOWSsystem32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windirLogsCBSCBS.log. For
    example C:WindowsLogsCBSCBS.log

    C:WINDOWSsystem32>

  • I started to install 1Pwd from the downloaded installed (just double clicked it, i.e not running it as admin or in elevated mode) and got this error:

  • Hi @m_w,

It said it found corrupted files and repaired them.

Try rebooting and installing 1Password normally now.

  • I did that but still get the same problem. I ran the scan again and it was clear:

    C:WINDOWSsystem32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

    C:WINDOWSsystem32>

Really don't understand this as I've using and upgrading 1Pwd for many years without issues.

  • I checked in the ..AppDataLocal1Passwordapp6 directory and found that the file System.Linq.Expressions.dll didn't exist and therefore it really looked like a permission issue. So I decided to uninstall 1Pwd, deleted the directory and then ran the installer again and this time it worked.

  • Excellent! Thanks for the update. I'm sorry it was such an ordeal, but I'm glad that you were able to complete the install. It sounds like you should be all set, but don't hesitate to reach out if we can be of further assistance. Have a great weekend!
